Kunsthall Trondheim ønsker velkommen til en unik konsertopplevelse med Trondheim Sinfonietta, torsdag 5. oktober!

Med konsertserien Absurd ønsker Trondheim Sinfonietta å utforske rekkevidden av hva en klassisk musiker kan eller ikke kan gjøre på scenen. Hva om man fjerner instrumentene? Hva om man tenker på musikkopptreden som koreografi? Inspirert av Fluxus, Mauricio Kagel og andre, har Absurd nye verk for musikere som innlemmer kroppens og stemmen til instrumentalistene. Komponist Jennifer Walshe har en gang kalt denne «sjangeren» av moderne musikk «The New Discipline», mens andre har kastet seg rundt etiketten «The Undisciplined». Uansett hva du kaller det, er denne typen ytelse en fri for alle. Alt kan skje, og Trondheim Sinfonietta liker det på den måten.

Musikalsk leder: Jennifer Torrence

Jennifer Torrence is an American percussionist, performer, and researcher based in Oslo. Her current body of work includes long-form solos works made in intensive collaborations with composers featured on this program such as Francois Sarhan, Neo Hülcker, and Carolyn Chen. As a soloist she has appeared at festivals such as Ultima Festival, Lucerne Festival, Venice Biennale, and Dark Music Days, and on series such as Periferien, Av Garde, and Levande Musikk. Torrence is a Fulbright Scholar (UK), the former principal percussionist of the Arctic Philharmonic and NOSO Sinfonietta (Norway), and a former member of red fish blue fish (USA). She has performed in 22 countries across four continents as a soloist and with ensembles such as Ensemble Modern (Germany), eighth blackbird (USA), and Speak Percussion (Australia). She studied at Oberlin Conservatory, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and University of California, San Diego. She is currently an artistic research fellow at the Norwegian Academy of Music.
