About the film:
United in Anger: A History of ACT UP (2012) is an inspiring documentary about the birth and life of the AIDS activist movement from the perspective of the people in the trenches fighting the epidemic. Utilizing oral histories of members of ACT UP, as well as rare archival footage, the film depicts the efforts of ACT UP as it battles corporate greed, social indifference, and government neglect. The film engages spectators in a timely conversation about pandemics and social justice.

Sarah Schulman is a novelist, playwright, screenwriter, nonfiction writer and AIDS historian. Her 20th book, LET THE RECORD SHOW: A History of ACT UP, NY 1987-1993 is coming out from Farrar, Straus and Giroux in May 2021. She is Distinguished Professor of the Humanities at The City University of New York, College of Staten Island, where she is a faculty advisor to Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP). Sarah is on the advisory boards of Jewish Voice for Peace, and Claudia Rankine's Racial Imaginary.

The event is a collaboration with Department of Language and Literature NTNU, NTNU GenderHub, Department of Teacher Education NTNU and Department of Music NTNU with Kunsthall Trondheim.
