The Cultural Rugsack (DKS) is a national organization that ensures that all students in Norway experience professional art and culture. For artists, it is an attractive and well-paid work possibility to develop and challenge one’s artistic practice, reach a wide audience of kids, that don’t necessarily get to experience contemporary art anywhere else, and first and foremost have meaningful and surprising first-hand meetings with an honest and spontaneous audience group.
DKS productions are time-based and often touring projects. The goal of DKS is that students get the opportunity to experience and develop an understanding of professional art and culture of high quality.
Through this conversation, you’ll learn about, and how you can be part of DKS.
DKS operates with a standard tariff of 5016 kr a day. You work together with a consultant within the municipality or county municipality when organizing a tour or developing the practical side of an art production.
This conversation is part of a collaboration between Kulturtanken and Kunsthall Trondheim to generate more proposals from visual artists and strengthen the role of visual arts within the Norwegian school system.
