Francine (was a machine) by Marte Aas is one of the exhibitions at Kunsthall Trondheim this spring. The exhibition touches upon the relationship between body and technology, and more. As part of the exhibition, Kunsthall Trondheim will go “offline” on Saturday 23 February.
The doors will open at 18:30 and close at 23:00. Entry is free.
___
When was the last time you went offline? Who are we without technology?
Kunsthall Trondheim invites visitors to put their mobile phones away in order to experience the art and the space in a new, more present way. The evening is based around the concept of “offline culture” – which could be seen as an antithesis to the inattentive art experience in which one never puts the phone away, and rather “Instagram” one’s way through the exhibition.
PROGRAMME
19:00 Tai Chi
Tai Chi session in the exhibition space, led by Frode Strand Karlsen and Tina Maria Lambert, instructors from Trondheim Taiji Senter. Tai Chi is a Chinese form of exercise that opens up for a bodily spatial presence through movement. The session will be conducted on beginner level, and is suitable for anyone who would like to take part.
20:00 Tea Ceremony – by Hannah Mjølsnes and Amalia Fonfara
A performative tea ceremony that has evolved from an earlier project, Plantesamtaler Kjørve, by artists Hannah Mjølsnes and Amalia Fonfara. The audience will be invited to sit down and take part in a sensory experience in which they will taste tea brewed on the wild plant, Anthriscus sylvestris, also known as cow parsley or wild chervil. The tea ceremony will be conducted in silence, with fragments of a poetic dialogue, opening up for reflections on space, time and the body, as well as the body’s relation to other species with which we co-exist.
20:45 Guided tour of the exhibition Francine (was a machine)
The theme of the evening carries on through the art experience itself, which takes form as the audience is guided by Katrine Elise Pedersen, assistant curator at Kunsthall Trondheim, on a relaxed tour of the Marte Aas exhibition. She will present three of the works in the exhibition, in which the relation between body and technology is a key point.
After the tour, the audience will be able to explore the exhibition at their leisure.
Please note: The Tai Chi class and the guided tour will be conducted in Norwegian. This is an alcohol-free event.
