In the event of the exhibition, Local Land, we have invited Aksel Tjora (sociologist and professor) to a presentation and conversation with artist Oddvar I.N. Daren. The event is organized in collaboration with Kunnskapsbyen, and entry is free of charge.
Through sociology and art respectively, Aksel Tjora and Oddvar I.N. Daren have both done extensive research into how we experience our surroundings. Tjora is known for his research on city culture and the use of the internet in everyday life, whereas Daren, in his wide-ranging artistic practice, often has looked to nature as a source of knowledge. Daren often uses photography and video to document ongoing processes in landscapes, and his works lie within the realm of land art, performance, and film.
Aksel Tjora is professor at the Department of Sociology and Political Science, NTNU, and founder of the Sociology Clinic.
Oddvar I.N. Daren lives and works in Trondheim, and studied at Trondheim Academy of Fine Art and the Jan van Eyck Academie, Maastricht, The Netherlands. He has exhibited at venues such as Norwegian Museum of Contemporary Art, Galleri F15, Henie Onstad Art Centre and Trondheim Kunstmuseum.
