Multiplié Dance Festival: ØYA ~ lydstrømmer – ImproDans Trondheim

Welcome to an interactive moving soundscape at Kunsthall Trondheim. ØYA ~ lydstrømmer focuses on tactile and visual encounters with sound, which makes it especially accessible for people with impaired hearing. In this performance various natural elements are activated and moved by sounds and the performers.

The audience is invited to participate with their own exploration of sound and movement. ØYA creates a performance experience for the audience by physical interaction with sound elements where vibration is key in tactile sensation and to excite physical and visual movement of the natural materials.

Inspired by the unique sound and texture of sand and stones, the independence and interdependence of each particle and its collective movement pattern is explored through music and dance improvisation. Navigating between physical and sonic landscapes, the performers enter a dialogue with the material and each other, touching upon themes such as leading and following, separating and uniting, controlling and letting go, belonging and feeling displaced.

ImproDans Trondheim wants to offer an open, free, and safe space for movement and sound exploration and a platform for site-specific and inter-artistic performances based on improvisation. ØYA is a new collaboration between Anna Thu Schmidt and Øyvind Brandtsegg, and the first exploration in the field of music technology within the project ImproDans Trondheim.
