Norwegian Curator's Tour: Man's World

Sin Wai Kin, The Fortress, 2024, single-channel video, film still. Color, sound, 21’59’’. Co-commissioned by Lahore Biennale Foundation and Forma. Supported by The British Council and Shane Akeroyd. Image courtesy the artist.

Welcome to a curator's tour with Katrine Elise Agpalza Pedersen. Here you will get a unique insight into Man's World, Sin Wai Kin's first exhibition in Norway. Pedersen will talk about how the different works flow in and out of each other like a universe, how the artist explores storytelling through the exhibition, and how different contexts change us, and about the four characters the audience meets in Man's World.

The artist brings fantasy to life through storytelling in moving image, performance, writing, and print. Drawing on experiences of binary categories, their work realizes alternate worlds to describe lived experiences of desire, identification and consciousness. Through Man's World, Sin Wai Kin probes urgent questions: What is the relationship between reality and performance? Who gets to set the stage, and to what end? Are our desires, hopes, and fantasies our own, or are they inherited scripts about who we should become?
