Erik Gant (b. 1960, Ittoqqortoormiit/Scoresbysund, Greenland) holds a Cand.phil in Film Studies from the University of Copenhagen and a Ph.D. from Aarhus University, with the thesis Eskimotid [Eskimo Time] (2004) on representations of so-called Eskimoes in film, and in scientific and popular literature. As a freelance critic, he has taught and written on Greenlandic issues. On several occasions, Gant collaborated with Pia Arke on art projects, as for example the Society for Ethnographic Film Blunders, which he co-founded with Pia Arke and Anders Jørgensen. In the period 2009–2014, Gant was Executive Secretary for the Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat (IPS) in Copenhagen.
