So, what's happening at Kunsthall Trondheim?

Kunsthall Trondheim will open the solo exhibition Liv Bugge – Umbilical Fire, and the group exhibition Acid Prints. The opening reception at Kunsthall Trondheim begins at 20:00 and concludes at 21:00, at which time attendees will proceed to the next venue to continue the night's festivities!

The upcoming triennial explores the theme of "mater" – the Latin word for mother – which connects biological motherhood with our cultural heritage and physical world, and reflects how the maternal is deeply woven into our language through words such as "materiality", "matter" and "mother earth". In exploring this theme, Liv Bugge’s exhibition presents, among other things, a symbolic nautical rope spun from sheep and dog wool that weaves together narratives about oil as the “mother’s milk” of modernity, Bugge’s personal story of growing up in a family of sled dogs, and the legacy of Hannah Ryggen, and her politically engaged tapestries.

Bugge's solo exhibition is complemented by three rotating mini-exhibitions throughout the Triennale period. Acid Prints is the first to be unveiled, exploring the compelling question: What is the lifespan of a work of art, and what traces does it leave behind?

Both exhibitions at Kunsthall will be opened by Adam Kleinman, director of Kunsthall Trondheim, at 20:15. Artist Live Bugge will be present.
