Welcome to a talk between Ulla Angkjær Jørgensen and Wencke Mühleisen, in connection with the group show this is a political (painting), in which the Austrian artist VALIE EXPORT is one of the exhibitors. Together Ulla Angkjær Jørgensen and Wencke Mühleisen will discuss what we learned from the feminist avant-garde of the 1970s about the relationship between politics, experience and personal identity, and the ways in which this critical analysis still makes itself relevant.
Ulla Ankjær Jørgensen is Associate Professor in Department of Art and Media Studies, NTNU. Her research and theoretical interests orients itself towards topics of contemporary art, gender, performativity and technological- and medium oriented perspectives on art.
Wencke Mühleisen is a Media and Gender researcher and writer. Mühleisen’s interest include for example Feminist theory, Gender and Sexuality Studies and queer theory. Mühleisen is a former performance artist. Her performances dealt with themes around gender, sexuality, feminism and power.
