Read the artists statement on performance:
Signaling is a sprawling, networked project that explores ideas of community, caretaking, and mutual systems of support as modeled by the role of mycelium on the planet. Through sculptural installation, sound art, dance, talks, and cooking events, Signaling creates opportunities for entanglement in which encounter has the potential to remake us. The dance element of this work performed at Kunsthall Trondheim is another way to experience the networked relationships between humans, fungi, sculptures, sound, and the audience. The performance emerges from the relationships between the five dancers and the two sculptural instruments. Its durational form allows the audience to encounter the dance at many different moments and have different experiences of the work.
Amalia Wiatr Lewis (b. 1994, Los Angeles, USA) is an interdisciplinary artist working with live art, performance, experiences, and objects. She is currently a graduating MFA student at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art in Trondheim, Norway.
