Litteraturhuset in Trondheim and Kunsthall Trondheim invite to a book launch with the artist Sverre Bjertnæs, who is releasing the book My pictures. About art and alcoholism.
Over the past 25 years, Sverre Bjertnæs has been shown extensively in Norway, Europe and USA. Two things, in particular, have characterized him throughout much of his career: collecting works by artists he admires and his problematic relationship with alcohol.
In My pictures, Bjertnæs uses descriptions of artworks hanging in his home, and through this, tells about his own life. Most of the artworks are made by artists he has a strong relationship with, like teachers, friends, or role models. The book is a collection of essays about an open person's investigation into their own and others' art. It is about friendship, community, and a journey in and out of heavy alcohol abuse.
We meet Bjertnæs in conversation with Trond Åm, General Manager at the House of Literature in Trondheim, with the participation of Carl Martin Faurby, Program Curator at Kunsthall Trondheim and Curator of Sverre Bjertnæs' upcoming solo exhibition at Kunsthall Trondheim, opening in May 2021.
The event will be held in Norwegian.
Update: Because of huge interest the event is moved to Kulturtorget, Trondheim folkebibliotek.
