Works on Books

Works on Books wishes to examine the potential of the book as object and structure. The exhibition is not meant as a tribute to the book’s existence – nor as a wake for this old technology’s alleged fall – but wishes to open up for new observations, reflections and interpretations. Works on Books gathers different projects by artists, writers and designers – who, in addition to addressing individual thematic questions, is united by that they all, each in their own way, comments on the form of the book. What is it that makes this object so interesting, and why is it a recurrent theme across so many creative disciplines? The works in the exhibition varies from objects, drawings and video – to artist’s books, literary projects and site-specific works.

The exhibition presents works by Monica Aasprong, Esther Maria Bjørneboe, Hans Petter Blad, Lenka Clayton, Michael Dumontier, Daniel Eatock, Kim Hiorthøy, Ane Mette Hol, Aron Kullander-Östling, Michael Marriott, Jonathan Monk, Fraser Muggeridge, John Morgan, Miriam Myrstad, OK-RM and Åbäke.
